Margaret Mead. Yet another Jewish Fraud and Hireling

Mead, Margaret (1901-78), American anthropologist, widely known for her studies of primitive societies and her contributions to social anthropology.
    Mead was born in Philadelphia on December 16, 1901, and was educated at Barnard College and at Columbia University. In 1926 she became assistant curator of ethnology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, and she subsequently served as associate curator (1942 64) and as curator (1964 69). She was director of research in contemporary cultures at Columbia University from 1948 to 1950 and adjunct professor of anthropology there after 1954.
    In September 1969 she was appointed full professor and head of the social science department in the Liberal Arts College of Fordham University at Lincoln Center in New York. She also served on various government and international commissions and was a controversial speaker on modern social issues.
    Participating in several field expeditions, Mead conducted notable research in New Guinea, Samoa, and Bali. Much of her work was devoted to a study of patterns of child rearing in various cultures. She also analyzed many problems in contemporary American society, particularly those affecting young people. Her interests were varied, including child care, adolescence, sexual behavior, and American character and culture.
    Mead died in New York City on November 15, 1978. Her writings include Coming of Age in Samoa (1928), Growing Up in New Guinea (1930), Sex and Temperament in Three Primitive Societies (1935), Male and Female (1949), Soviet Attitudes Toward Authority (1951), New Lives for Old (1956), Culture and Commitment: A Study of the Generation Gap (1970), and her memoirs, Blackberry Winter (1972).

On popularisation: "A physicist is a layman to a botanist... if we don't have an overall view of the sciences including the human sciences, there's not much chance." On science: "I'm a scientist. I write technical monographs too, which a lot of my colleagues don't understand." Her influence? "We had the trial of Sacco and Vanzetti. Twenty women testified that they bought eels from Sacco, but the judge said "people don't eat eels" and he was convicted. He wouldn't make that mistake today." Mead was very assertive, reminiscent of Joan Robinson. General impression that plain decency etc. with regard to other peoples' lives has to be dressed up as 'science' in the USA.

    Bibliographical notes 1942/ 1942 revised/ 1965/ and rather comic account of impossibility of recording all her sources, including books 'the very title of which has been forgotten', and 'sharp arguments over coffee at midnight.'

I've listed the chapter title, but not the contents, to save time. All the 1943-published essays were in support of the (((US))) war effort. Incidentally, the title is phoney—the truth was it was more a matter of manufacturing vast amounts of 'powder', and using it, not keeping it dry. The 'anthropology' is cartoonish and naive, making of course no mention of Jews, and pretending that the States were uniform, with all the same interests. Mead was just another rented puppet of Jews.


My file Teaching about Jews has this: ‘Margaret Mead, a once-famous 'anthropologist', author of Coming of Age in Samoa, is one of the few American Jewish-promoted frauds who has been exposed as fake. If the reader hasn't heard the details, the topic is included here and I leave you to further online searches; but the bottom line is that Mead was found to have had no knowledge of the relevant languages, and made up her south sea islands stuff, no doubt on salacious grounds. Let's hope she's just the first of many to be discredited.’ [Note added 3 Jan 2014: I've just read that Mead was firmly convinced that UFOs exist. I've made no attempt to check this].

See one of my books on scientific fraud, accusing Mead; I have a copy of the edition from which a passage on Mead was subsequently withdrawn. This may have been Alexander Kohn's False Prophets... but I have no faith in Jewish books and expect all of it is unreliable. The wake from Freeman continued for many years; the usual Jewish response was to ignore Mead, or to simply elide away the serious portions. Fairly typical was Hiram Caton in Australia.

It was in 1983 that a New Zealand anthropologist, Derek Freeman first denounced Mead's idyllic picture of sexually liberated yet disease-free Samoa (in her Coming of Age in Samoa) as having been based on little more than her own left-liberated-lesbian enthusiasm for fantasies with which the islanders had teased her (Margaret Mead and Samoa, Harvard University Press). Now Freeman has put together a more detailed account of how Mead's besotted adoption of Boasian social-environmentalist principles led to her naïve interviewing of Samoans. But Konner cannot be bothered with what Freeman's book is about. Instead his concern is to defend the indefensible as best he can even at this far-too-late stage. This can no longer involve disputing Freeman's main argument as to what really happened on Samoa -- an argument that Konner admits is "well developed." Rather, the defence has to shift to a higher plane.
      So other researchers differ from Mead and "report new observations and different theories"? "So?" says Konner -- as if the latest approximation to truth can be of no interest to an anthropologist.

The articles were sparked by Derek Freeman Margaret Mead and Samoa: The Making and Unmaking of an Anthropological Myth, 55 years after Coming of Age in Samoa, which deceived a generation or two. Robertson correctly identifies the Jew Emile Durkheim as the 'godfather of "social anthropology."' By 1926, '... one of Judaism's great "secular rabbis" [Boas] had gotten his prize pupils, mostly Jews, into all the key anthropological positions! ... [and they] took control of several of the leading anthropological journals and associations and used them to drive the Nordic eugenicists who had dominated the field only a decade earlier into the outer darkness of moral vilification.' Robertson goes on to a critique of Derek Freeman, 'half-informed, or biding his time?' all reading very much like Kevin MacDonald.
