FCS, I'm not sure why you put the link to a photo of a scanning electron microscope.

However let me put in a comment which puzzled me at first when discussing all this with Dr Hillman. I pointed out that there were electron micrographs of things like shells and diatoms and insects which seemed perfectly good photos. He commented (with his usual politness - I wish I could do that!) that's he's talking about soft structures, ordinary living cells, and these have to be dehydrated (or the powerful electron beam will make them explode), and treated with heavy metal compounds (or the structures will be almost invisible) and embedded in plastic (or they won't be cuttable into thin sections). It's the processing needed to do this which introduces 'artefacts', i.e. things not present in the original specimens. The most ubiqituous of these wrong inferences is the 'endoplasmic reticulum'. But the same thing applies to the 'synapse' in the brain, and chemical transmission, and 'receptors' in cell walls, all of which are mistakes.

I thought you might like to make an offer on my electron microscope.

I never realized that they had to do all of that processing to take an electron microscope photo of a cell. They certainly don't mention that in the caption. They don't say, "Here's an electron microscope photo of an amoeba, that has been dehydrated, chemically treated with heavy metal compounds, encapsulated in plastic, and sliced." That in itself is a fraud, when they don't tell you all of that.
